John has worked in the civil nuclear industry for over 40 years and is regarded as a leading expert on nuclear decommissioning policy and delivery.

A chemical engineer by background, he has held a number of executive roles including Deputy Managing Director of Sellafield Ltd, Managing Director of International Nuclear Services Ltd and CEO of the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. In the latter role, he was accountable to Parliament for annual expenditure of more than £3bn per annum across 19 nuclear sites.

John retired from executive life in 2017. He now holds a number of non-executive and advisory roles in the transport, energy, manufacturing and charitable sectors.  John served as President of the Nuclear Institute from 2018-19.
